A Word From Brett is a blog based on the personal experiences of a completely ordinary guy. Brett Bichard is just your normal, everyday writer from a small country town in the Hunter Valley right next door to the vineyards. Brett has written two novels and is in the process of refining and editing his works to eventually be published.
Brett is a third-year Journalism student at the University of Newcastle. A nerd and easily tongue-tied character, writing is the only way he has ever been able to truly express his feelings, and point of view.
Brett is a simple person at heart. He has just a few close friends whom he treasures dearly. He is loyal to his family and friends and thinks the world of them. The idea of owning a cottage in the country with his fiancée, two cats, his books and laptop is the most appealing way to live. In his free time, Brett loves to catch up with friends, write his fantasy stories and watch and read true crime. In his mind, the idea of escaping to another land is a perfect way to spend your time. After all, you only live once, so why not enjoy it?!
With so much going on in his head, he decided that A Word From Brett would be an ideal chance to express his thoughts to the world. A Tip From Brett also features social and relationship advice, also drawn from personal experience. Sufficed to say, we were all young once. Our own experiences make us desperate to pass on our wisdom to the next generation and know how to navigate their way through the numerous pitfalls in social and dating situations. While Brett does not have a degree in psychology, his wisdom in these areas is definitely worth passing on.
Brett is also a supporter of the LGBTIQ community. One of Brett’s biggest beliefs in life is that every creature great and small (and not just human) has the right to be happy. Another thing he has realised during his life is that everyone from different walks of life and cultural beliefs has a story to tell. By listening to them, we stand a better chance of understanding them.

Pet Hate: People who can’t spell, e.g. “Your to funny”, which should be, “You’re too funny”.
Achilles Heel: Confrontation, coordination, being too trusting
Life Goal: My ultimate goal is to inspire and delight those who read my writing. In my time I have undertaken a number of children’s stories and hope to gain more experience writing journalistic and crime pieces. Writing is my outlet where I can truly express myself, and hope that I can produce material that audiences of all ages can enjoy and learn from. I also have an intense love of travel. I believe that by visiting different countries and communities you get to learn how everyone co-exist and operate. There are so many different ideas on the world and how it works. By seeing different places you also get to learn the motivations behind everyone’s lives and the choices they make. It soon becomes clear that although we may speak different languages and have different traditions and customs, we’re not really that different.
